Change video speed

Speed up or slow down a video

Screen Recording App icon

Drop in a clip and pick a speed. It is re-timed in your browser - nothing is uploaded.

Make a long demo quicker to watch, or slow a moment down to see the detail. Most "change video speed" sites upload your clip to a server to do it. This one re-times it on your own device with ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, so the video never leaves your computer. The audio is kept in sync at the new speed. Free, no signup, no watermark. It is the same private, local-first approach as our screen recorder.

Nothing is uploaded. The video is re-timed on your device.

Choose a video or drop it here MP4, WebM, MOV and more. Nothing is uploaded.

Private by design

Nothing is uploaded.

Your video is re-timed in your browser tab and never sent to a server. It stays on your device.

Faster or slower

Audio stays in sync.

Speed a clip up or slow it down, and the sound is re-timed to match without going chipmunk or sludgy.

No install, no signup

Just a web page.

No app, no extension, no account, and no watermark. Works on locked-down computers too.

How it works

Three steps, all in the browser. The first run downloads the ffmpeg engine (about 30 MB) once; after that it starts instantly.

When this helps

Recording something new?

Capture it first with our screen recorder - screen, system audio, microphone, and a webcam overlay, all on your device - then bring the clip here to re-time it.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about changing a video's speed here.

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. The speed change runs entirely in your browser using ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your video is read from your device, re-timed on your device, and saved back to your device. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.

Does the audio stay in sync?

Yes. The audio is re-timed to match the new speed, so it stays in sync. If a clip has no audio, you simply get the re-timed video.

What speeds can I choose?

Half speed (0.5x) for slow motion, or 1.5x and 2x to make a clip quicker. These keep the audio sounding natural.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It is a normal web page with no app, no browser extension, and no admin rights. The first run downloads the ffmpeg engine, about 30 MB, to your browser cache, then it is ready immediately next time.

Does the result have a watermark?

No. There is no watermark and no signup. You get a clean MP4 at the new speed.
