Privacy Policy

Last update: 16 April 2026

Screen Recording App is provided by Kraus und Karnath GbR ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data we handle when you use our Android app or this website, and — just as importantly — what we deliberately do not touch.

The short version: your screen recordings stay on your device. We never upload them, we have no account system, and we do not sell data to anyone. The only information that reaches our servers is anonymous diagnostic data (crash logs and usage metrics) that helps us keep the app stable.

1. Who to contact

2. What we do not collect

Because this is the most common question, we lead with it:

3. What we do collect

We use Google's Firebase platform for two narrow purposes: Firebase Analytics (anonymous usage metrics) and Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports). Both send the following to Google on our behalf:

We do not link this data to your name, email, phone number, or any other identity.

3.1 Website analytics

This website (screenrecording.app) uses the same Firebase/Google Analytics setup to measure anonymous page views and navigation. No personal identifiers are collected.

4. Why we collect it

We do not use this data for advertising, profiling, or resale.

5. Legal basis (GDPR)

Under the GDPR we rely on legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) for anonymous diagnostic telemetry that is strictly necessary to operate and improve the software. No personal data is processed.

6. Data sharing

Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics are services provided by Google LLC / Google Ireland Ltd. They act as processors on our behalf. Google's privacy terms apply to their handling of the transmitted data: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

We do not sell data. We do not share data with advertisers, brokers, or marketing partners. We may disclose aggregated, non-identifiable statistics (e.g. "this many users opened the app last month") in blog posts or marketing materials.

If our business is ever acquired, any data we hold would transfer to the acquiring entity under the same terms as this policy. We would notify users via the website before any such transfer takes effect.

7. International data transfers

Firebase data is processed on Google's global infrastructure, including servers in the United States. Google relies on Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for these transfers. See Google's documentation linked in section 6 for details.

8. Data retention

Firebase Analytics event data is retained for 14 months (Google's default). Crashlytics reports are retained for 90 days by default. Both retention periods are configured in the Firebase Console and can be shortened on request.

Because we hold no identifiable data, there is nothing we can tie back to an individual user.

9. Your rights

You can exercise the following rights at any time:

10. Children

Screen Recording App is intended for general audiences and is not designed for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the app and you would like us to confirm no data is associated with that child, contact us at the address above.

11. Cookies

The website sets a minimal set of first-party cookies for the Firebase/Google Analytics SDK (see section 3.1). No third-party advertising cookies are used. Your browser's "block third-party cookies" or "do not track" setting is respected.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The Last update date at the top reflects the most recent change. Substantial changes will be announced in the app release notes.
